Construction Sequence

In order to minimize traffic disruptions and keep train traffic moving, the Rollins Road and IL Rte. 83 project will need to be constructed in several stages. Details of each stage are as follows:

Pre-Stage Work (mid-July 2013)
Work will begin on constructing temporary pavement for Hainesville Road south of Clarendon Road as wess as IL Rte. 83 south of Rollins Road.

Traffic will remain in the current configuration. There is a chance of temporary lane closures during the day.

Stage I (mid-July 2013 to November 2013)

This stage includes construction of the temporary Rollins Road and IL Rte. 83 pavement, including a temporary bridge for IL 83. This bridge will be required to maintain the traffic flow in later stages. Construction of the temporary railroad track will take place at this time. Also during this stage, the new alignments of Hainesville Road and the Rollins Plaza entrances will be built.

Traffic will remain in the current configuration. There is a chance of temporary lane closures during the day.  There will be a two week closure of Rollins Road to allow the temporary IL Rte. 83 bridge and rail crossing to be built.  For more information, please see our Detours page.

Stage 2A (November 2013 to Spring 2014)

Stage 2A

This stage includes construction of the new Rollins Road and IL Rte. 83 pavements. The parking lots southeast of the intersection will be completed during this stage. Also the construction of the west half of the new intersection with Hainesville Road will be built, as well as the east half of the new rail bridge.

Traffic will shift to the temporary Rollins Road and IL Rte.83 pavement, new Hainesville and Clarendon Roads, and the new entrances to Rollins Plaza. There is a chance of temporary lane closures during the day.

 

Stage 2B (Spring 2014 to early Summer 2014)

Stage 2B

This stage includes construction of the new Rollins Road and IL Rte. 83 pavements. Also the construction of the east half of the new intersection with Hainesville Road will be built, as well as the west half of the new rail bridge. Ttrains will run on the newly constructed track..

Traffic during this stage will remain the same. There is a chance of temporary lane closures during the day.
